Let’s say that you have a slight weight problem. You checked your gut and it’s asking for a bigger place and a raise. You haven’t seen your feet in years and your doctor told you that your spouse is looking at pine boxes for your eventual demise.

There is hope for you if you are able to walk, move your body and have a burning desire to stay alive. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. I’m still working on kicking my fat problem after over 50 years of constant battle of the bulge.

I want you to understand that you have to eat about 500 calories a day less than your body needs to keep its weight in check. This method alone will bring about a loss of a pound a week. I’m going to show you how to make that loss in fat, not muscle. Never try and lose too much weight in a week because it will only slow down your metabolism and eat your muscles.

Let’s take a look at your lifestyle and determine what you can actually do at this point.

Do you perform almost not exercise each day? Does the couch have a permanent depression from your behind? When you hear the word push up does a bra come to mind or how many reps you can perform?

Consider yourself sedentary – You will be starting out with 30 minute walks and “sissy push ups” to get your body used to moving weight. As you get fit, we’ll work on fat but you must first develop your fitness level in order to properly flush fat 24/7.

If you’re moderately active; exercising about 30 minutes a day around three to four times a week, we can do some business. You are ready for some fat burning, my friend. You should take a quick assessment of your physical abilities and develop a progressive exercise program that challenges you at an increase of about five percent increase a week.

I recommend a digital jump rope workout three – four days a week. When I started, I was sore from the first workout for about three days but loved it. The most frustrating thing is learning how to handle the jump rope. Combine jump rope workouts with a chin up / pull up bar and you have the perfect all round body shaping plan.

If you are very active; that is you are used to performing strenuous exercise at least six days a week, you know how important it is to push your limits on a regular basis. If you are committing that much time to staying fit you should get your fat tested. If you are over 12 percent, you will need to burn some fat. It is important for you to stay below 12 percent to get the best visual impact from your healthy body. Ideally if you want your abs to get the washboard look, you’ll need to get down to single digits in fat percentage.

Cardio is necessary for any workout routine, especially when you’re burning body fat. It’s great for blowing out stress and even handling depression. Jumping rope is one of the best, most potent cardio exercises around. It’s good for your legs as well as your heart.

Because jumping rope works your large leg muscles, you will find that boxer’s secret to getting in top physical condition challenging at first but stick with it. It’s cheap and portable.
